Jewelry Care
Caring for jewelry properly will help it last for a lifetime of
wear. Copper, brass and sterling silver naturally tarnish, however, the natural
luster of these metals can be instantly restored if polished. In some
instances, tarnish may produce a desirable patina that enhances a piece.
To dramatically slow down the tarnishing process of copper, brass or
sterling silver, keep these items stored in a air tight resealable plastic bag
or jewelry case with anti-tarnish papers when not being worn.
There are
many options available for polishing your metals. Listed are polishing agents
commonly used by our company.
For Hedge of Protection, Twisted, Coiled,
Spiraled & Orbed metal designs - These unique designs require a liquid
polishing agent upon which the pieces can be submerged. For sterling silver,
copper and brass, we recommend a product called World's Best Instant Tarnish
Remover. Upon the first few seconds of contact, tarnish is instantly removed.
This product can be found at Michael's Craft Store, Jo-Ann Fabrics &
Crafts, Hancock Fabrics and online.
Another recommended product for
designs of this nature in sterling silver, silver plate and copper is Tarn-X.
This product can be found at Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Target and other department
stores. It is not recommended for brass.
Polishing cloths, Brasso and
Never Dull are also optional polishing materials that are commonly used for
designs without crevices. We hope that our suggestions are considered, as well
as helpful. Please feel free to submit any inquiries regarding jewelry care via
email at contact@fingerprintscustomjewelry.com
and we would be happy to assist!
